why this images are on disk?

using the Catalog, i saw that one host have all backup images still on disk (media id @aaaan) and no duplication is currently running. i have enough disk space, enough tapes on scratch pool, so why those images are not getting duplicated?

i did a "./nbstlutil stlilist -image_incomplete -l" and it returned with a "No images or lifecycles matching criteria found."

will those images still get duplicated next time?

why weren't they duplicated today?

What exactly is not clear here..

from the output ou shared

Backup Time: Mon 07 May 2018 11:05:32 AM AS (1525680332)

2days retention would obviously mean that the image would expire on 9th may which is today.. so why are you expecting NetBackup to remove the image before it is expired

great question.. without sharing details of your configuration how can we tell you why the images are on disk and not on tapes..

If nbstlutil image incomplete output returns no entity found that means there is nothing pending for duplication..

It could be that someone cancelled all the pending images for the slp if the image was backed up using Slp

It may also be possible that some one changed the policy storage from slp to disk stu either in the attributes or in the schedule..

Could you share the outputs of the below commands

1. bppllist <policy_name> -L
2. bpimagelist -backupid <backupid> -L
3. nbstl <slp_name> -all_versions -L
4. nbstlutil list -backupid <backupid> -U

These outputs should more or less give us a brief idea with the image and configuration around that image

please find attached the results.

Thank you for sharing the outputs..
outputs confirm that the SLP operation is completed and you indeed have 2 copies available

As the primary copy is still copy number 1 so probably that would be the reason why you saw disk media id in the catalog GUI..

Your disk image is to expire today.. and would automatically mark the tape image as primary copy

i'm not quite sure i understand.

in the attachments i sent, if it's not obvious the SLP disk retention is 2 days so i'm confused why after two days those disk images are still available?
