“Through every technology wave, Veritas has been there delivering enterprise-class data protection to the world's leading organizations, including 86% of the global Fortune 500” said Simon Jelley, Veritas VP of Product Management. “Hybrid cloud is the next technology wave for business and Veritas is there again for our customers delivering powerful, flexible, and easy-to-use backup and recovery for the entire IT infrastructure regardless of platform: virtual, physical and cloud. Joining the Microsoft Enterprise Cloud Alliance continues that leadership role and is further evidence of our ongoing strategy to support major cloud service providers. With both ours and Microsoft’s large global enterprise and SMB footprint, the Alliance accelerates our joint efforts to provide information management solutions.”

Well said Simon.  But hold on, we’re not done yet, there’s more exciting news!

What makes this announcement of our Microsoft Enterprise Cloud Alliance commitment to provide cloud-ready solutions for our enterprise customers even more relevant and exciting, is that we have another joint announcement to make.  Microsoft announced general availability of their new Azure Cool Storage which provides an affordable storage tier for infrequently accessed blog (object) data and Veritas is announcing availability of our integrated Azure Cloud Connector in NetBackup Beta which is available and can be downloaded today.

A great deal of data created today has a pretty short life span and the need for rapid access to that data tends to “cool” rather quickly.   For this less-frequently accessed data, which also includes backup data, it makes sense to move it to a lower cost or “cool” storage tier.  The new, integrated NetBackup Azure Cloud Storage connector gives the enterprise the flexibility to easily select and target both the Standard and Cool Storage tiers of the Azure Blob storage depending on frequency of access, SLA requirements, and better cost management.

A recent Veritas survey indicated that 90% of enterprise customers are either moving or planning to move to a Hybrid Cloud deployment model, and many of our enterprise customers are looking to include Azure as a key cloud component of that model.   NetBackup enables customers to easily manage and provide proven petabyte scalability for any size global enterprise deployments and is made possible by what we call the NetBackup Converged Platform.   This “unified data protection platform” makes it very easy to plan, manage and extend data protection from multiple on-premises and remote locations, to private clouds, public clouds, and hybrid cloud deployments.

NetBackup is the market leader in protecting enterprise data on a global scale for both management and performance—for a broad spectrum of workloads including multi-hypervisor virtual environments, database, and physical workloads, on any storage device, located anywhere.  The proven global enterprise capabilities in NetBackup simplifies the convergence of on-and off-premise data protection with scalable, cloud-ready solutions to cover any use case.

We encourage our enterprise customers to test the ease of use, manageability, and performance of NetBackup to Azure Cloud Storage. For those interested in becoming part of the NetBackup Continuous Beta Program and testing the new NetBackup Azure Storage capabilities click here.
