NetBackup OpsCenter and Microsoft SCOM/SNMP

According to tom_sprouse here: http://www.symantec.com/connect/forums/snmp-opscenter

OpsCenter does not support SNMPGET, although when reading the Management Pack Manual it states on page 13-14 that a Advanced Discovery is run. According to our SCOM guys that usually means it does an "SNMP probing/SNMPGET". So that discovery is something different (it is and old post by now)?

I set up a few alerts and they do seem to get shipped out, although they dont see them on the SCOM server (SCOM 2012, which should be OK according to https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/scom-2012-and-netbackup-7x :(

Would you say its time to look at logs on the SCOM end?

I was able to get this to work in a 7.1 environment using SCOM 2012 (I think...).  The OpsCenter documentation for this integration was almost completely worthless (hopefully it’s been improved since then).  It took me working very closely with the SCOM admin (who happened to be a SNMP expert) and setting up conference calls with Symantec support, to get it working.

We had to pay more attention to SCOM best practices, more so then what the OpsCenter documentation was telling us to do.

I think basically it came down to having OpsCenter send the traps to the local server, and having the SCOM agent setup on the local server to forward the traps.  Then it was a matter of getting the configuration right on the other end.  It was all very complex and I don't understand everything that was done with SCOM and SNMP.

OK; I actually just gave up earlier today (not that I spent tons of time on this) and opened a support case. Your comment above basically just confirms the impression I have gotten researching this, and from what it seems the agent and documentation is all just version 1.0.0.0 :) so I think everything is as you left it.

If you have any notes/specifics of exactly what was changed in your environment please let me know. My customer is not an SNMP expert :)
