Hi All,

Can you please tell me where exactly can I check on Opscenter server to see whether traps are getting generated for an alert.

Thanks in advance.

Bharat,

1st, check to see if the trap is logged...

\Installpath\Symantec\OpsCenter\server\logs\trap_2013_07_30_XXXXXX_0.log

From there, if you want to verify the SNMP is actually being sent...

You will need a network sniffer or trap catcher on the OpsCenter Host.

If you are running Windows - there are several free applications to listen for SNMP traps...

Also, what version of OpsCenter are you running... I would highly suggest you upgrade to 7.5.0.6 if you can.

Hi Tom,

We have upgraded the Opscenter to 7.5.0.6 but the traps are not received by the server which we have mentioned in traps.

The server is trying to discover the process 'vrtsnomdbsrv.exe'.

Bharat,

The process you mention..   vrtsnomdbsrv.exe  was a NOM Process back in 6.x

and is no longer used in OpsCenter.

Please review the following for setting up SNMP traps..
