Hello,

We are preparing to upgrade one of the Master Servers from 6.0 to 6.5 and we need to collect historical data from this environment, prior to the upgrade  process.
One of the Master Servers in question is a Netbackup 5.1, running on a Linux Server and does not have any other Media Servers/Clients attached to it.
Could you please advise on which are the Best Practices on collecting data from this Linux Master Server with VERITAS Backup Reporter 6.5.1 ?

Thanks in advance.

Hey Marcel,

I'd recommend by starting with the latest version of VBR which is 6.5.1.  I personally find Windows installations easier as they are just point and click but Solaris is available as well.  So find a server, install VBR 6.5.1 and then you can point that server directly at the Linux NBU Master.  The VBR server will also need the NBU admin console installed if it's Windows or a NBU Media server installed if it's Solaris.  This will allow for remote data collection from the VBR server for all the data on the Linux Master.  The VBR server has an agent built in so in the settings tab you can configure it do to data collection without a seperate install.  There's lots more in the install and configuration guides but that should give some general direction.

Thanks!
