Over the last few years, we’ve seen an increase in the number of new mobile operating systems. The latest example is Microsoft’s announcement today of the availability of Windows Phone 8. At Symantec, we work to ensure that our customers are able to protect and manage their data, apps, devices and users on all mobile platforms. As such, we’re pleased to announce that Symantec Mobile Management Suite – a single solution that covers mobile device management, mobile application management, and mobile security – now provides support for the new Windows Phone 8 platform.

As users start to access corporate email and other resources with their new Windows Phone 8 devices, businesses will need to protect these activities. The mobile device management component of the suite, Symantec Mobile Management, provides the required protection by helping our customers centrally manage and protect their mobile devices on all major mobile platforms, now including Windows Phone 8. Mobile Management addresses three core areas of mobile protection functionality, including enabling devices for use in a corporate environment, securing devices and data, and managing all devices in the enterprise from a single, centralized solution.

Symantec’s support of Windows Phone 8 demonstrates our commitment to our customers to provide support for new mobile platforms as they become available. We’ve been working very closely with the Microsoft Windows Phone team to ensure that our products offer essential mobile device management capabilities to our customers for Microsoft Windows Phone 8 OS-based devices.

Regarding Symantec’s support of Windows Phone 8, Eric Hermelee,  senior director, Windows Phone Division noted, “Windows Phone 8 enables employees to communicate and collaborate in new and powerful ways with Office and Outlook Mobile built-in. We are very pleased that Symantec has made important investments that will enable organizations to secure and manage Windows Phone 8 in the enterprise.”

At Symantec, we’re excited about what Windows Phone 8 brings to mobile workers in the enterprise. We’re very pleased to work with Microsoft to help our customers protect their mobile devices and data while enabling mobile workers to enjoy the full productivity of Windows Phone 8.
