NetBackup 8.1.2 is the first step in the new Veritas design strategy, led by Killian Evers, Vice President - CX, and it changes the way that our customers will interact with our solutions. We’ve made NetBackup 8.1.2 intuitive so our users can make decisions much faster, can save time on mundane tasks, and so we can reduce redundancy across a number of jobs.
Visibility and control through a single screen
With NetBackup 8.1.2, we are introducing the idea of protection plans. A way of simplifying administration of policies, when you need to delegate. Admins will have guided configurations of protection plans and all protection details on a single screen. This allows them to focus on providing protection services to data owners while easily managing and meeting their service level objectives. They will also find consistent navigation across the board so they can get what they need, when they need it.
There will also be easy, streamlined selection between snapshot or on-prem storage. The straight-forward visibility of assets will enable workload admins to easily understand and manage asset protection.
NetBackup 8.1.2’s new simplified recovery process allows for self-service recovery of assets. This means that there is no need to engage the backup admin for recovery operations or for knowledge of NetBackup.
