Hi Zahid,

VVR Planning guide has a good chapter of "sizing the SRL" ... it gives  some example figures as well....

You can get the guide from sfdoccentral..

Vradvisor would be great option to achieve this....

Hi Zahid,

The VVR Advisor is what you want to use to help determine the proper size of the SRL.  You will need to capture data on your I/O activity to feed to this utility.  It is recommended that you run your data collection for about 2 weeks to get a good average to work with.

You can find the VVR Advisor guide on the Windows distribution media in the \Docs\Volume_Replicator folder.  The guide goes over how to install VVR Advisor, how to collect your sample data and how to use the utility to size your SRL and bandwidth needs.

Thanks,
Wally

Hi David,

Yes, it was originally developed on Solaris but has been moved to Windows many years ago.

On the SFW 5.1 media VRadvisor can be found in the following locations:

Veritas Volume Replicator Advisor User's Guide is located at \Docs\Volume_Replicator\VVR_Advisor.pdf.  With Windows installations covered on page 12.

If needed here is a link to the VRAdvisor User's Guide on the support website:  ftp://exftpp.symantec.com/pub/support/products/Storage_Foundation_for_Windows/317895.pdf

The installation MSI is located at \Pkgs\32\common\VRTSvradv.msi  or \Pkgs\64\common\VRTSvradv.msi.

Thanks,
Wally
