Browsing your backupset

If you need to find some data for recovery or locate something you would like to share, you can simply browse to establish the location of this data.

 1. Log in to SaaS Backup then click the G Suite connector that you wish to browse.

2. Click folders to browse the backup set.

3. Use the breadcrumbs to navigate the hierarchy.

4. Use the “Sort by” dropdown to sort the information to suit your needs. This list will show which options are available and may vary depending on the data you are viewing.

5. If relevant, you may filter the current location in the search field at the top of the page.

6. You can also use snapshots if you wish to step back in time.

 

Adding the Device

Important: If you have not installed the G Suite Marketplace app, you should do so before you set up the device. Please see the guide about “Preparing your G Suite account"

 1. Click the “Add” link at the bottom right corner.

2. Enter the desired name of the device.

3. “Sign in with Google account” then follow the steps that are presented.                                     

4. Once this is complete, you will be taken back to the SaaS Backup site.

5. Select which users are to be included in the backup.

6. If you prefer new users to be automatically added, select this option.

7. Click “Save”.

 Explanation

Device Name: This is the name you will use to identify what you are backing up in SaaS Backup.

Auto add new users to G Suite backup: This option will make sure that all new “G Suite” accounts are automatically included in backups.

Select all: Click here, to include all available accounts.

 

Preparing your G Suite account

Before the backup can start, there are a few things that need to be in place.

 The SaaS Backup app is available through the G Suite Marketplace.

1. Go to “Apps” and “Add Marketplace apps”. You can find the Marketplace by clicking the frontpage: Click Apps, then select the plus icon: “Add Marketplace apps”.

2. Enter “Veritas” in the search box.

3. Click the install button, then follow the install guide.

Additional notes:

In order to commence the backup, it is necessary to use an Administrator account with the acess to all data across all accounts.

 

Requirements for G Suite setup

In order to commence the backup, it is necessary to use an Administrator account with access to all data across all accounts and with the added SaaS Backup app through the G Suite Marketplace.

What can be backed up through the G Suite account?

SaaS Backup can backup Gmail and GDrive

When is the first backup complete?

Once you have selected your data and users, the backup will start. However, the backup duration will depend on the volume of data in the accounts. For accounts with around 10 users, the first backup is usually complete within an hour.

How do I download my files/folders?

You can easily download files/ folders across the connectors you have backed up.

Follow the steps below to get your files:

  1. Once logged in, simply choose the file/ folder you wish to download.
  2. Click the Download icon and the file or folder will be placed in your browser’s default download location.
 
Is the backup running?
You can easily check if your backup is running by logging in to SaaS Backup and checking 'Last Update' to the right of your connector.
 
How do I restore a file or a folder?

In order to start the restore, please follow these steps:

 1. Select “History Snapshots”.

2. Chose the point in time you wish to restore from.

 3. Find the file or folder you would like to restore. 

4. Click the “...” icon and select “Restore”.

5. The file or folder you selected to restore will now be restored to its original location. 

 NOTE: If a file with the same name already exists in that location, it will be overwritten.

When does the backup start?

As soon as you have selected the data and users for the backup, Veritas will commence the backup.

How do I download a different version of the file?

This is a step-by-step guide that shows you how to download a file of a different version:

1. Click the 3 dots to the right of the file you wish to download “…”.2. Select “Versions”.

3. A pop-up window will open, and here you can find the specific file version that you need.

 

How often does the backup run?

Veritas guarentees one full tenant backup every day. SaaS Backup automatically checks to start a new backup every 3-4 hours.

How do I change my email?

 

  1. Select the green man icon in the upper right corner, then click “Settings”.
  2. A pop-up window will open, click the green icon with a pen.
  3. In the next pop-up, enter your new email and click “Save”.

How do I change my email?

I forgot my password

  1. Go to the login page.
  2. Click the "Forgot my password" link.
  3. Submit requested information.
  4. Await the verification email.
  5. In the email, click "Reset password".
  6. Submit requested information.
  7. Your password has now been changed.

 

Where do my files go when I restore?

The files are restored to their original location. It is important to note that files with the same name in the same location will be overwritten.

Creating a public link

1. Select the file or folder you wish to share. 

2. Click the Share icon.

 3. Configure the link with the options you want, and then click Share. 

4. Copy the link in the next dialogue and send it to the person you wish to share the data with.


Notes:
Public links will always show the latest available data.
Creating a public link from an old snapshot gives you the option to lock the public link to that specific snapshot.

 

Reconfiguring public links

1. Click "Links" under the menu in the top right corner. 

2. If you want to reconfigure a link, click the Gear icon.

3. If the public link needs to be deleted, click the Garbage can icon.

4. Click the Share icon to get a fresh URL for the link.

 

 

How do I move or copy an item from a restored folder to a different one?

1. Log in to your Microsoft account.

2. Find the folder the data have been restored to, it is usually named “SaaSBackup_Restore_the date of restore”.

3. Select a subfolder.

4. Choose an item and in the main menu at the top of the page, click Move to.

5. Select the destination folder from the list or click Move to a different folder…  Alternatively, you can create a New folder.

6. To move the file choose the folder and click Move. 

7. To copy the file select the folder, tick Copy the conversation to the selected folder and click Copy.

 

How to check if the SaaS Backup is installed for G Suite administrator account

1. Login with G Suite administrator’s credentials to https://admin.google.com • Navigate to “Apps” page
2. Navigate to “Apps” page

 

3. Click “Marketplace apps"

4. Ensure that “Veritas Saas Backup” application is present in the list of apps and its status is “On for everyone”

 

 

How to revoke access for SaaS Backup in G Suite administrator account

1. Login with G Suite administrator’s credentials to https://admin.google.com 

2. Navigate to “Apps” page

3. Click “Marketplace apps”

4. Click “Veritas Saas Backup”

5. Click “Data access”

6. Click “Revoke data access”

 

How to check if G Suite user is the Global Administrator who can create the G Suite Connector

1. Login into http://admin.google.com/ with your G Suite credentials 

  •  If you are still on http://admin.google.com/ and can see such admin panel, then your G Suite user is Global G Suite administrator who can create G Suite Connector

2. Login into http://admin.google.com/ with your G Suite credentials

  • If you are redirected to https://apps.google.com/user/hub and can see such panel, then your G Suite user is regular G Suite user who cannot create G Suite Connector.

 

How to log out of your personal Google account to ensure you're correctly logged in to the admin account, when installing the app and setting up the connector

1. Navigate to any Google resource in your browser, for example https://www.google.com/ 

2. Click user icon in top right corner of page (1 on the screenshot) 

3. Click “Sign out” button in the user menu (2 on the screenshot)

4. Go back to VSB and try to create G Suite Connector.

5. During the creation process, you will be asked for Google authorization – enter the Global G Suite administrator’s credentials 

6. One more additional way to resolve such kind of problem – to clear browser cache / cookies.

 

How to remove Veritas SaaS Backup application from G Suite administrator account

1. Login with G Suite administrator’s credentials to https://admin.google.com
2. Navigate to “Apps” page

3. Click “Marketplace apps”

4. Click “Veritas Saas Backup”

5. Click on the trash icon (Remove App)

6. Confirm removal of Veritas Saas Backup

        Your app will be removed!
