Hi all,

We had implement EV which reside on VCS cluster (one node). When EV service group run on node A then SQL service group is running on another node (node B).

SF HA version is 5.1(Both node on 32bit server)

Enterprise Vault version 9.0.2 (32bit Server)

SQL server version 2005 SP2 (32bit)

NetApp LUN using for Vault Storage, Index, and SQL

Requirement: migrate from 32bit Hardware to 64bit Hardware

Question: 1. How to switch the VCS part from 32bit H/W to 64bit H/W?

                    2. After switch over VCS part how to migrate EV & SQL?

Is anyone help me out?

The cluster info can be found in the latest Install Guide.

Start here: https://sort.symantec.com/documentation

You will find the link to SF 5.1 SP2 docs on the top right under Windows.

As Tony mentioned : "you must deploy the target servers in a new cluster."

If you are confident with VCS concepts, you should be able to merge the original main.cf with the main.cf on the new cluster. If not, you may want to locate a certified consultant to assist.

Check out the migration technote.Article URL http://www.symantec.com/docs/HOWTO42445

It mentions this for clustered servers...

Migrating clustered servers
If you migrate clustered Enterprise Vault servers, you must deploy the target servers in a new cluster. Refer to the Enterprise Vault documentation, which contains the information you need to configure prerequisites and install Enterprise Vault in a cluster.
During the deployment of the new cluster, you can attach to the target servers the data locations that were used by the source servers, with the following exceptions:
■    In both Microsoft Cluster Services and Veritas Cluster Services, you must create a new data location for the MSMQ queues. Do not attempt to use the MSMQ data location that was attached to the source servers.
■    In Veritas Cluster Services, you must create a new data location for the RegRep resource. Do not attempt to use the RegRep data location that was attached to the source servers.

Based on the info you have provided, it would appear you are moving to entirely new 64-Bit hardware.  Is that correct?  If so, then the intsallation of SFWHA will be from scratch as these are new instances of Windows.  That being said, you can run the following command to gather all of the releveant cluster configuration files from the original cluster.

c:\%VCS_HOME%\bin\hagetcf

This will collect all of the main.cf and type.cf data along with the relevant llt and gab information.

However, if you are going to upgrade the EV and SQL binaries to 64Bit (i.e. new installation) you will need to re-run the EV and SQL cluster configuration wizards.  These will rebuild you service groups for you.  The most important piece here is the data volumes are made available to the new cluster (i.e. mapped)
