NetApp enlarged LUN but SFW did not see the new size

Dear all,

I am in need of help.

In our environment, Enterprise Vault for Domino was installed over VCS and VSF for Windows.  Recently, the vault store is running out of space and IT decided to enlarge the LUN (a NetApp FAS3140 with FC disk) to allow more space for the vault store.

In NetApp, the LUN was increased from 2TB to 3TB.  The partition type is Windows GPT.

However, when we checked in the VSF for Windows, after running rescan in diskpart, the disk was still shown as 2TB only.

Is there any specific step required after enlarged the LUN so that the VSF for Windows can see the new size?

Thanks a lot,

Rayson Wong

Rayson,

When using Storage Foundation for Windows, you can avoid using Diskpart all together as the VEA console and CLI are much more robust. When you extend the size of the LUN on the NetApp array you should be able to dynamically scan the LUN from the Windows Device Manager and subsequently perform a Storage Foundation rescan from the VEA console.  At this point you will then have to extend the volume to use the newly allocated space. This is an online activity and should not require any downtime.
