On windows, how to import a diskgroup made up of cloned disks on the same host as the original diskgroup

Zhigang
Not applicable

On unix, we can do:  vxdg -n newckdg -o useclonedev=on -o updateid import ckdg, or writing a new UDID to a disk using "vxdisk updateudid" or "vxdisk set clone=on"

But I do not see these command options for Windows. So how do you import a disk group containing cloned disks on Windows?

I did not find any posting on this topics.

Thanks.

Hi Zhigang,

Currently, the Windows version of the product is not able to handle cloned disks on the server physical server as the original disks.  This is a limitation of the Windows implementation of SFW/InfoScale only.  Other platforms handle cloned disks differently than windows and may not have problems.

At this time, the only way to handle cloned disks on Windows is to move the cloned storage to a server that does not have access to the original disks.

Thank you,

Wally
