Does anyone have the correct procedures to add a new node to a existing SFWHA v5.1 SP1 Cluster?

Hi Derek,

Check out the VCS Admin Guide starting on page 423, the section titled "Adding nodes to a cluster".

Here is a link to that guide.

Thanks,

Wally

Hi Dsaulsbe,

The process should be covered in the docs.  But here is a quick run down on the basic process.

1. On the new node, install SFW-HA 5.1 SP1 and any post SP1 patches so that the new node is at the same patch level at the existing nodes.

2. Run VCW to reconfigure the cluster.

2.a  Select the new node and atleast one of the existing during the node discovery screen.

2.b  Complete VCW to reconfigure the cluster and add the new node.

That is the basics for getting the node into the cluster.  From there you will need to install any clustered applications and reconfigure your service group(s) to include the newly added node as needed.  Depending on what you are cluster you might be able to use a SFW-HA wizard to reconfigre the service gorup.

Thanks,

Wally

Hello Wally,

Thanks for your assistance with this matter, but I was not able to locate any information in either the SFWHA Installation Guide or the SFWHA Admin Guide. Can you please tell me which guide has the information concerning the adding of a new node to a existing cluster.

Thanks, Derek
