Hi Ken,

If I understand you correctly, you are looking for a way to test SMTP messages from the Rule Manager, correct?

The best "test" scenario I have used in the past to make sure the Rule Manager in SFW VEA is sending SMTP messages as expected is the following:

1. configure SMTP Configuration in Control Panel
2. define a simple rule (A Rule based on the severity of alerts) to send an email  when an "Information Event" occurs
3. generate an Event that would meet the criteria of an "Information Event" e.g. deport and import a Dymanic Disk Group
4. check your email to verify that SMTP is sending email alerts as expected

If so...

5. modify the Rule(s) to meet your requirements or create a new Rule

Sincerely,
David

Yeah you are right, I was looking for a easy way to test my SMTP setting.
Would be very easy just adding a "Send test email" button some where ;)
Or simply have a command string to use.

Okay, will have to test this using another event type and see it it works.
