DMP and MPxIO doubt

All the LUNs are under vxvm. If I want to use MPxIO instead of DMP for those LUNs, what is the proper method to do it? I have seen a method saying that we need to delete dmp/rdmp directories... is it required? Should I disable DMP in any way or I just need to enable MPxIO via stmsboot -e with out disabling DMP ? ?

Hi Susadas,

DMP cannot be disabled in VxVM, but it will co-exist with other multipathing softwares like MPxIO.

Please refer to below technote for more details about DMP and MPxIO co-existance.

http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH204060

To use MPxIO, just enable MPxIO for the corresponding storage and DMP will use the path

presented by MPxIO as single path. We can disable advance DMP features, when using MPxIO,

as explained on above technote.

BTW, any specific reason you want to try MPxIO?

Thanks
