Hi,

What is the difference between Veritas Volume Mnager and Solaris Volume Manager?

There are lot of differences.. 1. Solaris volume manager can only work on Solaris however vxvm can work cross platform, you can also import a Solaris diskgroup on a Linux machine with cds disks. 2. Solaris volume manager and ufs filesystems can not be shrinked while Veritas volumes and filesystems can. 3. Vxvm has advanced features like snapshots, site mirroring, tagging etc while Solaris volume manager has limited features. 4. Vxvm has far more recovery features in event of disk loss over Solaris volume manager. G

Sun ever oem  vxvm, after oracle, stop that.
