Hi

We have VxVM 3.5 running on solaris 9 and it is connected to Symmetrix CLARION,
Now We are planning to migrate the data from symmetrix to EMC VMAX through host based migration.

Action Plan
1) Upgrade VxVm 3.5 to 5.1
2) Peform Host based migration..

Can anyone provide me some documentation to start planning for data migration

Thanks
Sukrut s

Please read SF Install Guide carefully (https://vos.symantec.com/documents/doc_details/sfha/5.1/Solaris/ProductGuides/)

Extract from p. 183:

Upgrade paths for Storage Foundation on Solaris Sparc

Storage Foundation version : SF 3.5, 3.5 MP4, 4.0, 4.0MP1, 4.0MP2
Upgrade procedure: Upgrade to 5.1 is not supported.
You must uninstall SF using the procedure in the Storage Foundation Installation Guide for your version.
....
Then install 5.1 using the installation scripts.

To migrate to new storage is really as easy as mirroring the existing volumes onto the new storage, wait for mirrors to syncronize, then remove mirror on old storage.
