We are migrating from thick to thin with VxVM 4.1 MP2 and then upgrading to VxVM 5.0 MP3. So, can we perform a reclamation after upgrade, I mean would VxVM recognize these devices as thin (After the upgrade).

Rather upgrade first, then migrate.
See http://www.symantec.com/docs/HOWTO59577 for information.
Please consider upgrading to 5.1 rather than 5.0 MP3.
Have a look at the upgrade paths in Installation guides on https://sort.symantec.com/documentation - scroll down to Veritas Storage Foundation and High Availability. Look for the version on the left hand and OS version in top row.

Hi
The SmartMove feature was introduced in 5.0MP3, so you will not be able to use feature unless the system has been upgraded to 5.0MP3 or later. 4.x will not be able to determine if a LUN is thick or thin
I also agree with marianne in that you should consider using 5.1SP1 or 6.0, rather than 5.0MP3
cheers

If you're running Solaris 10, ensure that the Vxvm volume size doesn't take up the entire lun storage allocation as 5.0MP3 changes the vtoc to fix a problem with Solaris reporting the incorrect size from the host. It could render the volume un-startable or mountable and the only fix is to increase the lun size from the array to overcome this.

Thanks Marianne. I guess we might go for an upgrade to VxVM 5.1 and then use SmartMove
