Hi,

we are looking for a solution which offers replication of our data and application to the DR site. Automatic switching to the DR site and automatic rebuilding of the primary site servers from the DR site.

What is the suitable product from symantec?

You can use SFHA with VVR and GCO option.

SFHA is Storage Foundation + Veritas Cluster Server (VCS fives HA High Availablity).  SF gives redundant storage with dual paths to disks (DMP) and mirroring and VCS allows you to failover locally (usually less the 50km) from one server to another.

GCO is Global Cluster Option and allows you to fail across sites as far apart as you want by connecting 2 clusters together.

VVR is Veritas Volume Replicator and is an add-on to SF to replication data over IP.

With these productions you can set-up local failover using shared storage (or just have a one-node cluster) and replicate data over IP to your DR site (which can be one node or mulitple nodes)

Failover can be configured to be automatic acroos sites as can be resyncing the Prod site if it goes down, the DR site takes over the Prod site returns, however it is recommended to have both these operations configured to be manually initiated.

See chapters 16 - 20 in https://sort.symantec.com/public/documents/sfha/6.0/solaris/productguides/pdf/vcs_admin_60_sol.pdf for more technical information on how all this works.

You don't have to use VVR, you can also use hardware replication if you prefer such as EMC SRDF which is fully supported by VCS GCO.

Licence wise you need SFHA + HA/DR (this gives GCO) + VVR.

Please work with your local Symantec reseller to suggest a proper solution.

Just having a list of products without understanding or explanation of how it all fits together is not going to help you.
