Hi,

With the below configuration details, i face a severe performance problem in my application.

Server Model : T5240 Sun SPARC Enterprise Server

RAM : 32 GB

Processor :128 processor

Operating System :Solaris 10

Database : Oracle 11.2.0.1 64-bit

File System : Veritas-5.0_MP3_RP3_HF2:2009-12-22 ,VER: 5.0,REV=05.11.2006.17.55.

The performance of the application is inconsitent with this configuration. The performance goes down in I/O operations of oracle. The same application runs fine with oracle in linux and oracle in windows.

Please help me in this regard.

thanks,

Anitha

Hello Anitha,

Are you using this as a standalone configuration or its a part of cluster ??

Also this is a RAC configuration or standlone database ? did you use veritas ODM ?

Thanks

We are using standalone configuration and standlone database. not using ODM.

Hello Anitha,

- what kind of application is it ? Typical OLTP ? Warehouse ? BI ?

- is the linux and solaris (you are comparing) using the same storage ? Exactly the same ?

We have similar configuration and ODM is very usefull especially in write-intensive operations.

But please ask above questions ...

Please also share volume layout - striped? mirrored?

Always a good idea to take database I/O patterns into consideration before creating volumes and filesystems.

SF for Oracle Admin Guide provides guidelines in chapter 2 under these topics:
