Storage Foundation 5.1SP1Rp2 and oracle unbreakable

Hi to all, In next week we are going to upgrade our system Actually: - linux Redhat 5.5 (2.6.18-194.el5) - oracle 10.2.0.5 - storage foundation 5.1 SP1Rp2 - vcs 5.1 -veritas volume Manager 5.1 Next: - linux redhat 5.5 ( kernel oracle unbreakable ) - oracle 11.2.0.3 - storage foundation 5.1SP1Rp2 - vcs 5.1 -veritas volume Manager 5.1 so... the problem is about the compatibility of veritas products ( storage foundation 5.1SP1Rp2 ) and the new linux kernel, oracle unbreakable ( 2.6.32-100.28.5.el5 ). I don't see anywhere documents about that. The only unofficial document I see http://www.symantec.com/connect/forums/unbreakable-oracle-linux-55-kernel-and-storage-foundation-51-install#comment-5061581, doesn't remove my doubts So, could you help me about that ? thanks in advance, Vincenzo

Enzo,

We do not support the "Unbreakable Kernel" from Oracle with 5.1SP1RP2.  What we do support is OEL 5 and 6 when using the RHEL compatibility mode. We are in the process of qualifying the demand for Unbreakable support but at this time there is no definitive delivery date for this certification. That said, the likelihood is that the support will not be retroactive to the 5.1SP1RP2 but rather a new release of the product.

The SFHA release notes say:

Symantec supports only Oracle, Red Hat, and SUSE distributed kernel binaries.
Symantec products operate on subsequent kernel and patch releases provided
the operating systems maintain kernel Application Binary Interface (ABI)
compatibility.
So as this kernel is supplied by Oracle, then if it maintains kernel Application Binary Interface then it SHOULD be supported.
