Storage Foundation - Solaris - Upgrade

Hello,

I have a customer that will upgrade their SF 4.0 MP2 to 4.1 MP2 on Solaris.

1- Is it possible to upgrade the binaries to version 4.1 and keep the DG's version at 4.0 ?

2- After the upgrade to 4.1, is it possible to upgrade the DG's from version 4.0 to 4.1 with the database running and the server in a production environment ?

3- Is it possible for a 4.0 server to mount BCV disks with DG's at 4.1 ?

I really appreciate the help.

Thanks in advance.

Best regards,

Marcel

Hi, Marcel,

to 1: yes, this is default in upgrading VVM, upgrading DG's version is an additional step

to 2: yes, DG's version upgrade is possible anytime when the DG is imported, but until this upgrade you can only use the functionality of the old version even on the new manager

to 3: no, this is not possible, every version of manager can import only versions up to a certain level, so if you want to use the BCV volumes you have to take care for that the standard volumes are on the level what the manager on the host for the BCV volumes can import, this is version 110 (manager version 4.0), not 120 (manager version 4.1)

hope this helps
