There seems to be some confusion. It seems you are talking about SFM 1.x and not 2.0. I would really recommend that you move to SFM 2.0. There are tons of advantages (you can view some of the screencasts on SFM 2.0 here). The only  caveat is that it is not prebundled with SF 5.0. However there is only one small package that you have to install. Some of the advantages are:

a) It is very light weight
b) It manages from SF 4.x and above
c) Extremely simple to install
d) More tolerant to network settings and environment.

Hi unx64,

let's look into this:

1. in order to run SFM 2.0 you need to install 1 Central Management Server (CMS) + roll out a 25 MB file on each managed host (MH)? Both can be downloaded from www.symantec.com/sfm.

Please confirm, that you did install SFM 2.0 Central Server (Storage Foundation Manager 2.0 Central Server (Solaris 10 SPARC)) + Storage Foundation Manager 2.0 Managed Host (Solaris SPARC) on each managed host.

2. Did you open port 5634 between CMS and MH both ways?

Please confirm.

Thanks,
Andrea

@1) I've one CMS allready running and managing few hosts with VF4.1 and VF5.0. In my opinion The problem is somwhere in config or software compatibility.

2. Did you open port 5634 between CMS and MH both ways?

@2 ) yes hosts are working in one subnet
