VEA 5.1 wont allow logins from users other than root

I have a pair of servers running Solaris 10 with Storage Foundation 5.1 installed. I can login using Veritas Enterprise administrator as root but when I try to login as a user, I am unable to do this.  I know the passwords I am using are good.  Also, I know that in Storage Foundation 5.0, there is a way to authorize unix groups so that regular users can login via VEA.  SF 5.1 does not seem to have this capability.  I know that we should probably be using VOM, but for now, the people creating storage structures use VEA and do not want to have them logging in as root when they do this work.

Thanks,

Keith

Have you downloaded and installed the additional VEA package as per this TN: http://seer.entsupport.symantec.com/docs/346513.htm ?

Once installed, the 5.0 commands listed in this TN should work:

I have seen this and have already tried this to a certain extent in that the command /opt/VRTS/bin/vxdbedusr  does not exist after installing the VRTSobgui package.  So, it is either been renamed or is handled by some other process.

Actually, the VEA service was installed when I installed 5.1 in VRTSob and the service vxsvc is what VEA connects to.

I would suggest you to read thro this suggestion posted here: http://seer.entsupport.symantec.com/docs/346111.htm

It looks like you can give it a shoot however you can start thinking of moving towards VOM

Cheers,
