I am trying to test and understand how SFRAC works and am trying to install Oracle RAC 11.2 on VMware ESXi 4.0. What I would like to know is:
1. Will Veritas storage foundation BASIC work for Oracle RAC? If not where can I get a developemnt version of Veritas storage foundation for RAC on Linux (OEL/RHEL 5)?
2. I know I canont use Coordinator Disk due to SCSI-3 requirement which currently VMWare does not support?
a. Is there any option to setup Coordinator Disk?
b. If I have to use CPS server then where can I get the software and how it set it up?
This is critical to me as we are getting SFRAC in out company and I would like a full understanding before we go live.
Thanks,

Hello,
Firstly if we see latest guides for VMware ESX, I don't see any latest guide which says SFRAC supported with ESX.
Here are the latest guides for 5.1MP2
https://sort.symantec.com/documents/doc_details/sfha/5.1%20MP2/VMware%20ESX/ProductGuides/
I don't believe SF Basic will work here, you need product & license called SFRAC which by default is enterprise version... 5.1 by default has 60 days evaluation.
You can get the trialware download here:
http://www.symantec.com/business/products/downloads/index.jsp
expand the storage tab below & you should see the SFRAC product trialware download..
& you are right, you will not be able to use coordinator disks since IOfencing is not supported because of PGR limitation.. regarding CPS server, software should be installed with 5.1 installation.

Is there no developer version for playing/testing and has a free license for sfrac? It will help without requiring rebuilds every 60 days.
Thanks,

To my knowledge its not there..... product will need license keys after 60 days.,..
evaluation license built in 5.1 will last for 60 days only, post that you will need license to be put it..
