Per core licensing allows you to license only the server processor cores being used. To determine the total core count:

  • For licensing entire CPUs, multiply the Total # of CPU by Total number of Cores in each CPU.
    Example: For 2 Xeon 8 core CPUs, 2 X 8 = 16 cores
  • For licensing partial CPUs (Virtualization) enter the exact number of cores used

Hi Marianne,

Thank you for the feed back. For CPU such as the Sparc T4, the physical cores is 8 but psrinfo shows 64 as each core has 8 virtual core. Could i clarify that veritas is smart enough license by physical only then?

regards,

ida
