hi all,
I am trying to find out if a particular filesystem which belongs to a disk group can be taken offline and mounted on another host, we have a disk group which has file systems for 5 databases, i am checking if a couple of filesystems belonging to a particular DB can be taken offline and mounted on another hosts, keeping the rest of the 4 db's filesystem intact .
Thank you

Hi,
That is not possible ... there are 2 scenarios however in both of them you can't take some filesystems belonging to a diskgroup online to other hosts
if this is a standalone host:
If this is a standalone host, you need to deport the veritas diskgroup & import on other node if you want to access disk & volumes on other hosts. For this, the Luns underneath the diskgroup should be visible to other node so that diskgroup can be deported from current node & import to other node however in this case as well, at a time, DG will be imported only one node & filesystems can be online on one node only.
If you have clustered host:
In this case as well, diskgroup will be part of some cluster group where clustered group can be online on any one node & diskgroup & filesystems can be online on one node at a time.

Another solution is to use Cluster File System and make that diskgroup and file systems available to both nodes at the same time

If these filesystems are on independent disks/luns and you have SF Enterprise, you should be able to unmount the filesystems and split the volumes/disks into a new diskgroup.
You can then deport the diskgroup that was split off and import on the other system.
