not able to start "vxconfigd"

Configuration -

HP-UX  B.11.31 U ia64

SF Version - VRTSvxvm              5.0.31.1       Veritas Volume Manager by Symantec

Storage - EMC SYMMETRIX

Following error comes, while starting vxconfigd

vxconfigd -k -m enable
VxVM vxconfigd ERROR V-5-1-8561 ddl_fill_dmp_info: Path 0xff0001b0 not found in devlist 603198: Error 0
VxVM vxconfigd ERROR V-5-1-1589 enable failed: System error occurred in the client
        Error 0; aborting

Would apreciate any help regarding what this message means and how to start vxconfigd daemon.

Just FYI,  the newly provisioned LUNs from SYMMETRIX are visible to OS. but not able to add them to VxVM, because vxconfigd is not running -

on trying to start vxconfigd, I get -

Looks like a support case.

Important thing to know is the LUN provisioning procedure and steps.

Seems like a previously removed device from the host could have been stale.

now new LUN is presented and is coming through the same path and hence vxconfigd is unable to process the new device path.

This is just one scenario, but its worth to open a support case for further investigation.

which version of vxvm do you use?

Jimmy is right, need to know the steps followed to add the Luns .. Also can you tell if this is a new installation or was a running setup ? If it was working setup , did you stop vxvm manually ?
