Usage amount for a space allocation object in Storage Exec (tm) does not match the Windows Explorer size for a directory
http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/275751.htm
Details:
Storage Exec counts allocated space for files, not the data size. This can be significantly different with compressed or sparse files. The "Size on disk" in Windows Explorer is the allocated space, and should match the Storage Exec usage amount. In the case of the root directory of a volume, Windows Explorer reports the space used on the entire partition which includes file system "metadata." Storage Exec reports the sum of the allocation sizes of the files beneath the root directory. Therefore, these counts should not be expected to match.
