Let me give you my setup first:
Solaris 9
EMC PowerPath 4.3
VxVM 4.0
I cannot get rid of a Disk_3 from below:
vxdmpadm getsubpaths ctlr=c5
NAME STATE PATH-TYPE DMPNODENAME ENCLR-TYPE ENCLR-NAME ATTRS
================================================================================
c5t500601603060066Bd1s2 DISABLED - Disk_3 Disk Disk -
c5t500601683060066Bd1s2 DISABLED - Disk_3 Disk Disk -
NONAME DISABLED - NONAME Disk Disk -
NONAME DISABLED - NONAME Disk Disk -
NAME STATE PATH-TYPE DMPNODENAME ENCLR-TYPE ENCLR-NAME ATTRS
================================================================================
c4t500601613060066Bd3s2 DISABLED - Disk_3 Disk Disk -
NONAME DISABLED - NONAME Disk Disk -
NONAME DISABLED - NONAME Disk Disk -
c4t500601693060066Bd3s2 DISABLED - Disk_3 Disk Disk -
Somehow VxVM combined two different disks to make one disk. It used d3 on controller 4 and d1 on controller 5 to make a single Disk. Now I cannot get rid of it even though it is no longer attached to the server. I can't get it out of cfgadm either.
I think the NONAME is a reference to the Disk_4 that I have "successfully" removed that had mapped d3 on controller 5 with d1 on controller 4.
Is it safe to disable vxdmp altogether since we are using the fully licensed version of PowerPath?
Thanks
Troy
