vxvm root mirroring

team ,

we having sun sparc server with root disk is mirored using vxvm 4.1. yesterday server went down abnormally and not booting from either root disk or root mirror .we tried all options to make server up but failed to bring server up .Finally thought of installing installboot booting from cdrom drive . what will be the impact if i boot from cdrom and try installboot on any of root disks which is under vxvm control .

That should not be a problem. The vxrootmir commands runs installboot after it creates a root mirror.

 

You might want to paste more details of the errors you're getting.

Please provide the errors generated while trying to boot with the root disk/root mirror. 

Any idea whether it is booted with root disk/mirror prior to failure ?

Running installboot won't create any problem. But try to do it only on the second disk.
