SFHA Solutions 6.0.1: Administering and troubleshooting the vxdbd daemon

To run Storage Foundation for Databases (SFDB) commands, you must be the database administrator (DBA). DBA users need to perform several operations as the root user, such as creating snapshots and mounting file systems. The vxdbd daemon is used to run privileged commands, or when communicating with the SFDB repository on a different host.

Normally the vxdbd daemon starts automatically when the host boots up. However, if the daemon reports errors or if the daemon process dies, you may have to manually start or stop it. You can also use the status command to report the current state of the daemon and confirm if it is running. Only the root user can start or stop the vxdbd daemon.
