SFHA Solutions 6.0.1: Deploying Oracle RAC with SF Oracle RAC in Solaris Zones environment

You can install and manage your Oracle RAC database inside zone environments using Storage Foundation for Oracle Real Application Clusters (SF Oracle RAC). SF Oracle RAC runs in the global zone forming a cluster of multiple nodes. Oracle RAC runs in the non-global zone forming a cluster of zones across different nodes in the SF Oracle RAC cluster. You can thus have multiple Oracle RAC clusters within an SF Oracle RAC cluster.

Shared storage is configured on the global zone. You can then export storage from the global zone to the non-global zone using loopback data mounts and direct data mounts. This allows for shared storage access to the Oracle RAC database.

You must configure non-global zones with an exclusive-IP zone. In exclusive-IP zones, the network interfaces are assigned exclusively to a non-global zone and they are not shared with the global zone. All private interfaces inside a non-global zone must be configured under Low Latency Transport (LLT) as private interfaces.
