Veritas Storage Foundation Basic is intended for smaller systems. Storage Foundation Basic is available at no cost and provides the same features of Storage Foundation Standard, but is designed for system workloads that do not exceed four volumes and/or four file systems and/or two processors/sockets in a single physical system. You can use Veritas Storage Foundation Basic on a small system to try out features, and then if you like the features, you can decide to purchase the full version.

Veritas Storage Foundation Basic includes the following features:

  • Veritas File System (VxFS)
  • Veritas Volume Manager (VxVM)

Veritas Storage Foundation Standard offers VxFS and VxVM capabilities with no limitation and includes database accelerators. Veritas Storage Foundation Standard is intended for systems and workloads that need only some advanced features.

Veritas Storage Foundation Standard includes the following features:

  • VxFS
  • VxVM
  • Optionally licensed features
  • Veritas Volume Replicator (VVR)

For more information on migrating from Storage Foundation Basic to Storage Foundation Standard, see:

Veritas Storage Foundation and High Availability documentation for other releases and platforms can be found on the SORT website.
