SFHA Solutions 6.1: Installing Storage Foundation and High Availability (SFHA) using response files

A response file helps you automate your Storage Foundation and High Availability (SFHA) installation tasks. This file is especially useful when you are installing the same SFHA configuration in multiple environments. When you install SFHA on a cluster using the install program, it generates a response file. This file contains the configuration information you entered during the procedure. You can use the response file to install SFHA on other clusters.

You can also generate the response file using the -makeresponsefile option on the install program.

# ./installer –makeresponsefile

To install SFHA using the response file, copy the response file to one of the cluster systems where you want to install SFHA and edit the values of the response file variables. Then, you can mount the product disk, navigate to the directory that contains the installation program, and start the installation from the system to which you copied the response file.

You can use the –responsefile response_file command to automate installation and configuration. This command uses the system and configuration information stored in a specified file instead of prompting for information. You have to edit the response file to use it for subsequent installations. It is possible to manually edit the response file. Variable field definitions are defined within the file. The response file can be copied not only within the cluster system but also to any other system that can communicate to the other systems of the cluster. The response_file must be a full path name.

You can use one of the following commands:
# ./installer -responsefile /tmp/response_file
# ./installsfha -responsefile /tmp/response_file

You can also use response files to configure, upgrade, or uninstall SFHA.
