Hi,
I have been running Backup Exec Server Recovery 2010 (version 9.0.1.36527) on a small number of servers running Win2003 std.
From time to time all the servers are affected by an issue where the backups fail.
The following error in generated in the Application event log:
Event Type: Error
Event Source: Backup Exec System Recovery
Event Category: High Priority
Event ID: 100
Date: 26/05/2012
Time: 03:08:12
User: N/A
Computer: ServerName
Description:
Error EC8F17B7: Cannot create recovery points for job: ServerName- C Drive.
Error EC8F03EA: Cannot create a virtual volume image of the selected drive.
Error EBAB00CC: Application unable to continue due to lack of memory. (UMI:V-281-3215-6071)
Details:
Source: Backup Exec System Recovery
Within the system log the following is generated:
Event Type: Warning
Event Source: PlugPlayManager
Event Category: None
Event ID: 257
Date: 26/05/2012
Time: 03:12:46
User: N/A
Computer: ServerName
Description:
Timed out sending notification of target device change to window of "C:\Program Files\Symantec\Backup Exec System Recovery\Agent\VProSvc.exe"
For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.
I am unable to kill the VProSvc process once it has entered this state despite having the relevant permissions. I have tried various methods and receive ‘Access denied’ each time.
Rebooting the server does resolve the issue however this is not a solution I can use everytime.
The servers have no internet connectivity for securtity reasons and as such liveupdate is unable to be used and while I have read that SP2 MAY resolve this issue I am unable to find it as a separate download on your site.
I would be greatful for any assistance you can offer.
Kind regards
T

As a starting point, try SP4:
