BESR 2010 installation error

Hi guys,

I have installed BESR 2010, but somehow the installation was interupted. I'm installing on a brand new SBS 2008 server (HP ML350G6).
Also the uninstalling could not be executed. So in frustion I used the MS Cleanup Utility.
That didn't either.
Searching on the Symantec site gave me some info on deleting reg-keys containing BESR 2010. No the installing will continue only to give me:

error 1402: could not open key Unknown\Components\.................(number) Verify that you have sufficient acces to the key or contact your support personnel.

I search the registry for the key, and as you can predict, I don't have acces to those keys...

What next? Any help would be kindly appreciated.

Hi RahulG,

We are experiencing exactly the same problem on a client's server, but the link above is broken since Symantec have "upgraded" their support site. Can you please update the link to one that is working?

Thanks heaps,

Chris.

The technote just speaks about assigning "appropriate" permissions without giving any detail, so assuming you are using an administrator account for the install, just add "Administrators" to the permissions on the registry key, which may currently only have "System" permissions.

Hi Sush,

I don't know what's happening, but when I open the URL you have provided, or the link in the post above, I briefly see a re-direct message about being re-directed to the new support site, and then I get a page not found error, at the following URL (which is where it re-directs to).

I am in Australia, in case that makes a difference. Please can you just provide a link directly to the page in the new support site? As I said, the URL above gives an "Error, Page not Found" message.

Thanks,

Chris.
