BESR backup for Exchange Server 2010 CCR mailbox server

Hi All,

I'd like to know if BESR 2010 can or supports backing up Exchange Server 2007 SP1 ? this is a Clustered mailbox server, is it able to restore single email from the backup for a particular user ?

I've done the other server backup and restore but not sure and never tried in backing up Exchange Server and restore single email item from the backup image.

Can anyone share your experience here please ?

Hi Albert,

Why don't you install it on the Passive node mailbox server only and see how it goes from there ?

AFAIK BESR 2010 can do the restoration for the whole server but for the granular Item Recovery, I'm not sure about that, let me find out first with my colleague and get back to you.

Restoring the Inbox email ? are you sure BESR can do that as well ? because I also use BE 2010 R2 and yes it works in tha way but as for BESR 2010 I haven't tried that.

Does this also need a separate license / agent to install ?

Yes. Individual messages can be restored in BESR 2010 too. This is known as Granular Restore Option (GRO). Here is more information of what can be restored for Exchange.

Microsoft Exchange 2003, 2007 and 2010

- e-mail folders; a restored folder is saved on the disk as PST file.

- Individual messages; you can save individual messages in an MSG file format on the disk, or you can forward them directly to a user.

yes it is should be, i'm installing BESR in my mailbox server now an see how it goes from there.
