BSOD 0x3B - SSR 2013 R2

djfeedback

Our SBS2008 domain controller (POWEREDGE T620) experienced BSOD 0X3B failure where the Dell support engineer analyzed the dumpfile and identified the vtrack.sys as the most likely cause. He also indicated the volsnap.sys may have been involved. The below support article was suggested to be relevant, however the solution does not apply as the version 2013 R2 of  Symantec System Recovery is the one currently installed on our system.

After one day downtime experiencing BSOD 0x3B stop messages on every boot, we finally after excessive attempts of rebooting, the server came up and login was successful. Now the server has been operational since, but to be proactive we would like verify if there is a fix available preventing this from happening again.

Regards,

Thomas

Are you running SSR 2013 R2 SP2 (version info should be 11.1.2)?

If yes, you will need to open a support case to get the crashdump analyzed.

Chris,

Thank you for the swift reply. Initially the original version downloaded from Symantec portal was used:

- SSR 2013R2 Small Business Server Edition (v11.1.0.53728)

After you made us aware about a more recent version, we used LiveUpdate today to upgrade for:

- SSR 2013R2 Small Business Server Edition (v11.1.2.54477)

What bugfixes were introduced part of SP2?.....any known vtrack.sys issues that most likekly will provide a permanent fix for the issue we experienced?

Regards,
Thomas
