Backing up Exchange Server 2013

Hi All

We are looking into backing up Exchange server 2013 and wonder if any of you have had any problems with this ? I take it that you only backup the active Database or do you back up both?. The user guide seems to very light on this subject.

2 Exchange servers 2013 on Windows 20012 R2   (50-60 Users)

Is it better to install the SSR on the second Exchange server and buy an extra liecence or  just install it on the "Active" machine ? From what i can gather we would also need Office to restore the data back to PST.

In the past i have used Backupexec with the Exchange plugin, but we only need to backup Exchange server in this instance.

Are there any pitfalls in using the software, or does it just work?

Thanks

Mike

You can backup one or both, it's up to you - depends what you need to recover.

Yes, Outlook is needed for granular level restores of Exchange.

The SCL (Page 18) has some more details that may help: https://www.veritas.com/support/en_US/article.000004208

Yes, of course.

First backup will always be a FULL, then subsequent backups will be incrementals. You then choose your scheduling options to say when the next FULL will be.
