Backup freezes on 5%

PCmannen
Level 3

Environment: Windows Server 2003 Standard X86, Symantec Backup Exec System Recovery 8.5.5 (backup of C-drive only), TSM running for filebackup of non System drives.

Servers have installed DNS, IIS, File server and SQL, so they have high load.

The backup will run fine the first days (up to a week) after reboot. Then the backup will start to hang at 5%. It stays this way until I restart the server. If I only restart the services and restart the backup it will again freeze at 5%. When I look at the services, the Volume Shadow Copy service has the status Stopping.  When I stop Backup Exec System Recovery, Symantec SymSnap VSS Provider and SymSnapService the Volume Shadow Copy will stop.

When looking at VSS Writers (vssadmin list writers) I see that some have the state Failed, with last error: Timed out.

Eventlog also shows the following warning message in System Log after the last successful backup:

Event Type: Warning
Event Source: PlugPlayManager
Event Category: None
Event ID: 257
Date: 01/01/2011
Time: 00:00:01 PM
User: N/A
Computer: xxxxxxxx
Description:
Timed out sending notification of target device change to window of "C:\Program Files\Symantec\Backup Exec System Recovery\Agent\VProSvc.exe"

Have anyone experienced simmilar problems?
