Can't backup to Remote Tape drive

JD_Fairlane

Greetings,
Using BESR 2010 on Windows 2003 Server R2 Standard Edition SP2
I have a remote Tandenberg LTO4 tape drive attached to the server and properly configured. No errors or confilcts in Device Manager under Tape Drives.

I've used other Symantec BackUp Exec products prior to this product, with remote tape drives with no trouble.

How do I get this product to use the remote tape drive. I don't see a 'Devices and Media' option similar to previous versions. Should I use something like .\Tape0 for the destination???

BESR is a disk-only solution.

You should look at using Backup Exec (BE) if you want to use a tape backup solution.

Chris,
Ok, then please explain this:
http://seer.entsupport.symantec.com/docs/357305.htm

See point number two. And at the bottom where 'Products Applied:' includes BESR Server 2010.

Hello JD,
In the technote that you have mentioned http://support.veritas.com/docs/357305 in the 2nd point BEWS refers to Backup Exec for Windows Servers (BEWS) and its a different product from Symantec which can backup the data on the tapes.
Its a bit confusing in the technote as in the first place that piece of information abouts BEWS should not have been present in this technote as this technote is for BESR

I'm not sure what your point is. It clearly says:

On the other hand BESR only supports disk devices as Backup Destination.
