Hi guys...
We bought this software to create schedule backups and hot backups of our databases.
All our SQL works great (apparently) but the Oracle database can be backed up.
In the user guide it says:
To create a hot backup
Error EC8F17B7: Cannot create recovery points for job: Drive Backup of System Reserved (*:\), (C:\), DATAPART (D:\).
Error E7C3000F: Device \\?\GLOBALROOT\Device\HarddiskVolumeShadowCopy8 cannot read 8192 sectors starting at LBA 135202016.
Error EBAB03F1: Following Operating System error occurred while performing requested operation: 'The system cannot find the file specified.'
Details: 0xE7C3000F
I've been reading and according to that, it says that my drive is about to fail because it can't read the sector specified above.
If i shutdown the database, it works great :S.
I need this to be a schedule hot backup.
Please any solution would be great.
Thanks!!!
Regards.
Francisco.

What version of SSR? And what version of Oracle?
If SSR 2013, have you checked that the version of Oracle is compatible? - http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH201318 (see Page 16).

Hi Chris...
We are running Oracle 11g and Windows Server 2008 R2.
According to the PDF, the backup is a VSS enable database but SSR can't back it up because it's under Server 2008 R2 and it only works on 2003 (R2).
Then this is a "problem" with SSR since it can backup up an Oracle 11g database.
Any chance to get it to work on 2008 R2?
Thanks!
Regards.
Francisco.

Update...
11g on 2008 R2 has not been officially tested yet. However, our engineering team are going to work on this and we should know by the end of next week (10th Jan). I'll provide an update when I get some news on this for you.

I've received an update from engineering:
We have tested the Oracle 11g R2 on Windows server 2008 R2. The Backup and Restores are working as planned. Before taking image backup of the with Oracle database on it the database has to be placed in no archive log mode.
Please refer to the following for more details: http://docs.oracle.com/cd/B28359_01/win.111/b32010/vss.htm
The SSR compatibilty list will be updated soon with Oracle 11g on 2008 R2.
Hope that helps.

Please refer to my previous comment on 7th Jan. A software update should not be required...
