We recently migrated our backup target server to a new machine. We copied all backup sets to the new server. The old server is not available anymore. We successfully created the new target locations in the BESR management console. Now we cannot seem to modify our backup policies so that they point to the new target. When we edit the policies and set the new target, the summary always looks fine. However, when we apply the changes, the old target is still shown on the policy overwiew page. Also, we cannot seem to delete the old targets.
How can we modify our policies so that the computer backup to the new backup targets?

Have you added the new backup location as a backup location in the SSR MS console ?

We successfully set up (added) the new backup targets in the BESR console. Otherwhise we would not have been able to select these targets while edititing the policy, would we?

You're right. So you see the new backup traget when you edit the jobs in the SSR MS? You can save the backup job after you changed the backup target to the new one? Does the SSR show the new or the old target afer this?

Markus, the console shows the old target for the edited policy. We have not found a way to make the policy show the new target after editing.

OK, thanks for making this clear to me once again. What happens if you create a completey NEW policy with the new backup location? What happens if you create another compleltey NEW policy with the OLD backup location, safe and then change to location to the NEW location ?

As to the two tests:

Are you willing to mess around with the SQL database that is behind SSR MS ?

No, we are not willing to do that. We need a quick and simple solution. We have a lot of policies and need a solution that does not mean to set up all policies from scratch again.

OK, then you have to open a support call.
