Cannot convert image file. --Error E71C0003

I have this incredibly frustrating problem turning a V2i file into a vmdk (or vhd for that matter) virtual disk. It happens at the beginning of the conversion process when it is retargeting the virtual disk.

This only seems to be happening with v2i files generated from the C drive of this one Windows Server 2008, x86 Edition server. Converting C disk images of other servers is successful.
I have run chkdsk on the server (no problems found) and defragged the hard drive all with no luck. The server the v2i file is generated from is also operating without abnormality. Additionally, converting v2i images generated from this same server used to work fine.

I can open the v2i file in the recovery browser just fine, and they will restore when you boot the SRD and do a restoration there. I've made multiple v2i files and tried converting them with and without the Windows mini-setup, all with no luck.

The event log says:
Error EC8F1F48: The conversion process could not be completed. Error EC8F1F45: Cannot convert image file. Error E71C0003: . Error E71C0003:
Details:
Source: Backup Exec System Recovery

Short of reinstalling the operating system on the server that is generating these v2i files, is there anything I can do? I can't seem to find any information on this error code anywhere. I can't believe no one has run into this problem before.

Not sure about this error, however I have done successful conversion so far with BESR 2010 to VHDs, you can also use the above tool on your server to convert its C drive to a vhd.

You can use the vmware converter to convert v2i to a vmdk - that may be a test to see if it is the file which is damaged somehow or the process.

Hope this helps you
