For some reason Backup Exec System recovery 6.5 will not create the .sv2i file when it backs up ou server, it will create the image file but not the .sv2i file

These are the errors we get

Description: Error EC8F17B6: Cannot update the system index (.sv2i) file. An invalid character was found in text content.

Details: Unspecified error

Description: Error EC8F17B7: Cannot create recovery points for job: System.
Details: Unspecified error

Source: Backup Exec System Recovery

The server is a windows Small Business Server 2003

Any help would be great.

Thanks

Yes, but a very radical one: Just delete the v2i file.

Sorry I should have said at the start we have deleted all the images on the NAS and created a brand new job and still we get this problem

Aslo we have uninstalled System recovery and reinstalled and still itwill not create the file.

Well, i think since you also were not able to find the "invalid character" in the file you'd better file a case with Symantec.

Where do I need to look for this invalid character?

Thanks

I have no idea, but I'd go for the v2i file itself. Since it is an XML like structure you could give it a try.

OK so I called Symantec but we don not have a support agreement so they can help me.

Anyone got any thinoughts on how to fix this?

Thanks

Matt
