Hi,

I have one BESR 2010 server with complete volume backup policy defined. I need to exclude some files from the complete volume backup. Is this possible

Unfortunately this is not possible with BESR.

You can use the File and Folder backup method:

http://www.symantec.com/docs/HOWTO21412

This allows you to specify specific data to be backed up - it does not do a volume-level backup. For that reason, this should not be used for DR purposes.

How much data are we talking about here?

we are talking about more than 800 users data.

You still haven't specificed the amount of data though. 5GB, 100GB ??

It sounds like a lot though so you could see a performance issue. The File and Folder option is not really designed for large amounts of data.

Thanks Chrish,

I am talking about morethan 8 TB data in one location and four other location where we have 5 TB each.

I am thinking about bringing data to one location or one solution for each location.

Also i have some users data (300 GB) through ftp.

can you please help me in this.

I personally would not recommend the File & Folder option in BESR for this amount of data. I think that you will find the performance an issue.

You should either do a full volume backup with BESR or possibly consider using Backup Exec (BE).

Yes, as I mentioned; Backup Exec as probably a better option for you:
