How to apply latest service pack on Symantec Backup Exec System Recovery system having no update

Hi all,

I need your support on below:

we are using Symantec backup Exec System Recovery 2010 on windows 2003 server. There is no previous update done on this.

since system has no update, is it ok to install latest service 4 on the system. which is latest available.

we are facing an error:

Incremental backup jobs would fail with the following error:

A test that safeguards the integrity of the program failed unexpectedly  

there is a fix available in service pack 3.

shall i install service pack 3 or service 4 directly?

are there any steps required to do before service pack upgrade on the server? since we have production environment.  

also is there howto guide available to apply update. please share.

i cannot see proper documentation or howto service pack guide in documentation.

You're right, afaik there is no documentation guiding you through the update process. Since all updates are cumulative you can safely install SP4 on the machines.

I assume you have a backup of the machines you want to apply SP4 to, so this should be sufficient.

Then just run the installation program for SP4. If you have the full BESR 2010 SP4 package you might be asked to keep the jobs, histroy and so on files during the update process.
