I seem to be missing something here.. I'm trying the Demo of SSR to restore a .GHO file to a machine, and am unable.  Everything I read says this plaftform is replacing Ghost, but how do I hit and restore legacy GHO files?

You may be using either an image created with Ghost Solution Suite or attempting to restore a very old image file from one of the early version of Ghost. The files created with recent versions of Ghost and SSR have the ,V2I file extension.

I think you may have to re - create a backup using either SSR or ghost.

Recommendation :

- If the machine is still available take a Backup using SSR , as the *.Gho extension files would not work on SSR for restore ( note:  latest version of norton ghost create *.v2i extensions )

- If the machine is decommissioned and you want to use the *.gho exension files keep a copy of Ghost CD  for old systems for restore purposes
