Install new disks in Win2008R2 Server

I'm migrating to new hard drives in a Dell R720 server, with the PERC6i controller. I'm running SSR2013 11.0.2.

Here is my plan, let me know if I'm missing anything:

  1. Take a final backup with SSR.
  2. Shut down server and swap drives.
  3. Start server, boot into controller, create RAID volume.
  4. Boot server with SSR recovery disc, connect to network share.
  5. Recover server by selecting "recover my computer" and then selecting all drives (there are two).
  6. Select reboot when finished. and start the recovery

Hopefully it will reboot at that point and work.

Anything I should watch out for?

Thanks

Yup , if it is a Domain Controller you will have to uncheck the hidden option "Run mini setup"

If you have a system reserved partition , you choose "Set drive active" and "restore mbr" for system reserve and restore it.

Later choose C: and select "Restore original disk signature and get it restored

The hidden options will be found by Holding the control key and checking the box for "Restore Anywhere"

Thanks for the info. It is not a domain controller, just a web server with a SQL database.
